Does anyone have any diet and exercise tips to provide regarding how to get six pack abs quickly?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

I am about 5′8" tall and I weigh approximately 165 lbs. I am also a 29 year old black and mexican male trying to get a six pack for the first time. I have worked out throughout my life, but my marriage and parent responsibilities effect how much time I can get in the gym. The closest I have ever came to getting the 6-pack that I have always desired was about 3 years ago when my wife deployed to Iraq. I was in the gym none stop for like four months. I lost about 20 lbs and was probably in the best shape of my life. I was weighing in at about 145 lbs but I still did not have the abs that I wanted. My work out routine back then consisted of about 60 minutes of cardio in the evening and about an hour of weight training right before the cardio. I also would have Air Force physical training sessions on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays…so on those days I would get in about two workouts a day. I want to start a new training regime…but I am hesitant to go back to the previous work out plan since I did not ultimately get the desired outcome. Someone once told me that "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is called insanity" Please let me know if you have any diet or exercise suggestions.

to have a six pack/flat stomach you must burn fat and have a low body fat %. direct ab exercises like sit-ups & crunches(or any of those TV infomercial gadgets) DO NOT burn fat! they may strengthen the area but they will not give you a six pack.

the best way to burn fat is through high intensity interval training and its something you do not have to do 6-7days per week if done right.

I highly recommend Interval Training…which is periods of high intensity work followed by periods of rest or low intensity work. combines both a strength component(for lean tissue building) and a cardiovascular component(for fat burning).

this type of training causes an effect known as EPOC…Excess Post(exercise) Oxygen Consumption. the EPOC phenomenon causes an increased rate of oxygen intake, an elevated consumption of fat for fuel and increases your metabolism up to 48 hours AFTER you exercise! burning fat while you rest!

Not only does this type of training torch bodyfat, it also saves you time. no more splitting up your days…1 day cardio, 1 day weights…more time for family, friends, work, sports. you also don’t need an fancy or expensive equipment to complete these workouts. most of them you can do at home. example:

squats
push-ups
pull-ups
planks

do each exercise for a set # of reps or time back to back without rest in-between. that equals 1 set. rest 30-60 sec then repeat whole sequence. do 3-5 complete sets. you can plug in more exercises(I do one where I pick 10 exercises and do 1 min of each) or mix in different exercises. train this way 3x/week and you will definitely see some results.

What you eat is important as well, your body needs all 3 macro-nutrients to survive — carbohydrates, protein and fat. If you cut out one of those macro-nutrients your body will not function properly and eventually break down.

Eat whole, naturally occuring foods. Nothing processed, packaged or anything with added sugar, salt, artificial sweetners or preservatives.

Live by this quote: "If you can’t hunt it, fish it, pick it from a tree, bush or the ground, DON’T eat it."

good luck!

What is the best workout routine for someone like me?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

I am 15 almost 16 yrs old, about 5′ 2”, and 98 lbs.(I know, I am really lightweight.) I am looking for a routine that works upper body, lower body, and core abdominals. Something medium intensity and that I can do on my dad’s bowflex.

start out doing low weight, high reps for about two weeks so u can get the right motions for lifting higher weight. If u have a bowflex then u should have a ton of workouts to do. you just need to put the time in. Also drink a ton of water and get protein, protein is the most important thing in getting bigger.

What are good exercises to get a flat stomach?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

I’m trying to get a flat stomach I’m pretty close to having a flat stomach but what exercises can I do to get rid of the little pouch?

When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It’s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym – a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

How can I lose stomach fat fast?

Friday, January 29th, 2010

I am a 14 year old girl and I have a lot of belly and inner thigh fat. Within the next few weeks, I really want to get rid the stomach fat. The inner thighs would be good to lose some fat, but that isn’ty main priority. In a nut shell, how can I get a flat stomach FAST?

First of all, my best suggestion is to learn to eat healthy.Do sit ups and joging.watch them excersise videos in the morning. and Lower what you usually eat. When you want something verry bad eat half of it then give the other have to somebody else or throw it away.
